Quals, cakes, and spring

It’s been a good few days in the lab.

First, big congratulations to Rashad for passing his qualifying exams. He is the first student in the lab to pass quals, which makes it an especially exciting milestone for all of us.

We also celebrated recent birthdays for Kina and Madeline, with cakes shared alongside our fifth floor friends. One note for the future: Tres Leches cake (pictured below) does not hold up well to a bike ride from the store to the lab, unlike Kina’s fruit tart, which sadly is not pictured. Even so, both the tres leches and the fruit tart were a hit.

Overall, the lab is heading into the end of the academic year strong. Happy spring!
